Open the downloaded file and follow the installer.

Sign in and enable Long-Term Memory
Create your account, then click the Pieces icon in your menu bar and turn on Long-Term Memory.

Pieces quietly learns from your workflow and becomes long-term memory across the tools you already use.

Use the "click here to retry" link near the top, or visit the downloads page to pick your exact build. If your browser is blocking it, check your downloads bar or permissions.
What's PiecesOS — do I have to install it separately?
No. PiecesOS is the background service that powers everything — Long-Term Memory, on-device AI, and MCP integrations. It's included with the Desktop App and can be installed from within it.
Will it slow down my computer or watch everything?
PiecesOS is lightweight and resource-efficient. You control exactly which apps it captures from via Long-Term Memory Access Control. All data is processed and stored locally on your device — nothing leaves your machine unless you explicitly enable cloud features.
Is it really free?
Yes — Pieces is free to download and use with full functionality, including on-device AI models. Paid plans add Personal Cloud backup, team sharing, and admin controls when you need them.
